INTRODUCTION | This is the first part on a principal book I want to write about the WWII and the Holocaust Transport Trains. I intend to briefly develop each of the main points mentioned herein. This venture started at the end of 1997 when I wrote an article entitled “The trains of the Holocaust, a simple German logistic problem”. Subsequently, I published this article in Wikipedia and over a period of a few years, the original article morphed and grew into an extensive read.

The Holocaust would not have been possible without the application of a fast mechanized railway transportation system, secret and open logistics, anonymity of the mass transport of 8,000,000 people and the covert murder of over 6,000,000 on such a global and colossal scale, across the continent, from Paris to outskirts of Moscow, and from the deserts of North Africa to snowy Norway. This is the consensus of many WWII historical experts, present company included.

Without this railway system, WWII would also not have been possible from an actual historical point-of-view. The movement of millions of soldiers, war supplies, ammunition, fuel, thousand of tanks, rockets and submarines parts were simply too vital to the effort of conducting WWII.

Only the invention and mass introduction of the V-1 and V2 type rockets could have changed the traditional aspect of the war, from moving infantry, field artillery and armor to ballistic missiles.

The world is changing by leaps and bounds and the political, social, and economical landscape is not the same as it was decades ago.

As a result of the introduction of smart and ultra smart phones, every person is not only a reader of news, but a generator of news and content: a powerful actor, in all the aspects of our lives, from local & global politics and economics, to social and cultural issues.

In today’s world an “Auschwitz” is nearly impossible or difficult to conceal, for its ubber-lager dimensions as it stands in Poland, or other country, open to the super sensible optics of passing satellites. Or maybe one single prisoner can smuggle inside a cellular phone with a camera. Or the guard sending pictures and posting commentaries to his Facebook account.

Social media are powerful organizations, with data in their data centers (10,000 server or more in a cluster) many times over what governments have in their data bases allowing these social media networks to continually reshape and impact society.

Society and its members are no longer the passive standers-by of the 1933-1939 era. Today, all members of society or at least a vast majority, are super-active, reactive and proactive world actors.

As we make history today, resulting from the introduction of cloud computing, super smart phones, Wi-Fi internet, broadcasting on social media and blogs, we must not forget the past, because its lessons are paramount for military and decision making politicians and imprinted in the history pages.

Go back to any event in recorded human history and you will find a common point-of-view. Technology evolved, but the human spirit, in essence, remained the same.

I would be satisfied and feel that my mission in life was complete if only one phrase from this book will be remembered or cited.

Even if one mind or heart will be moved by reading my writings, and an attitude toward peace is altered, it would suffice.

            I consider the Jewish Holocaust (in Hebrew, Shoah) as the sum of all events related to the Jewish Population, in a determined geographical area: continental Europe, during a distinct period of time: between 1933, when the Nazis under Adolph Hitler came to power in Germany, until the termination of the war on May 8-9, 1945. The Holocaust included many tragic events such as the implementation of Nuremberg’s racial law, Kristallnacht, and the Einsatzgruppen murder of 1.5 million Jews in Russia.

I refer to the “Final Solution” as an event during the Holocaust, definition of which was agreed upon in Wannsee in January 1942:  the systematic automization and mechanization of the concentration and killing process of Jews, and German influence upon the industrial extermination camps. Train and railway logistics were the most important tool for implementation of the “Final Solution”. Main system of gas chambers & crematoria operations ended in November-December 1944, but the evacuation of Jews, railway transportation, mass foot convoys and thousands of killings continued, until the very end of the war in Europe.

Dear Hedi,

 You are always so eloquent! There aren't many people left in this world that put so much effort in getting a message across. Especially a message of the infamy of the Holocaust, which lately is being "denied" by certain rulers that are not only supporting terrorism, but also would love for the world to forget the atrocities of past megalomaniacs.
